Description:
Meet Drift: My name is Drift, but my foster family likes to call me Drifty which suits me fine. I have been working really hard on following basic commands and can now "sit", "stay", "lay down", "quiet" "come" and being "down off of things". A simple clap lets me know I have my nose somewhere I shouldn't. I am the best on the leash if you like to jog slow like my foster mom. If you are a walker, I need reminders to slow down for about a block and then I settle in. I like that my foster home has a fenced in yard and another dog, but I think I would do great with one or the other. My foster parents leave me in the basement when they are away (with a child gate at the top of the stairs so I can greet them when they get home) and always with a raw hide and a toy so I can keep myself busy. I sleep on a couch at night downstairs, but my foster parents just got me a great big new kennel and we are going to work on crate training! At bedtime I am kind of like a toddler, its really best for me to go to bed early (once you see me starting to sleep around you its time for bed). A few of my favorite activities include napping, playing with my pal (Dog-Kenny) and visitors, walking, playing fetch, helping you cook in the kitchen, and defending the homestead from all vicious intruders including thus far squirrels, bunnies, and my fosters mom's personal favorite, butterflies.
My foster parents have lots of patience and are working real hard to teach me new things, I really like new adventures and hope the next family will keep me for lots and lots of them because moving around is tough.
Please fill out an ADOPTION or Foster APPLICATION by clicking on the button below.Thank You! When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
