Buck is looking for a forever home!Meet Buck! Buck was sitting in a cold cell at the pound just waiting for someone to rescue him. MARS did that, and now he is in a loving foster home. Buck and Rue came into the pound together. We think they might have been used as a breeding pair. Both dogs are very sweet and want nothing more that to have somewhere to lay their heads and someone to love. Buck was so excited to get outside to get his pictures taken! He was also very happy to see Rue again, since they were kenneled separately. Buck would love to be adopted with his friend Rue, or would like to move in to a home with another dog to keep him company. Buck is a typical lab, and was really interested in playing with the tennis ball. He would love to have a home with a yard where he can chase after a ball. Since he's gotten out of the pound, we've also found out he LOVES catching frisbee's! However, he does show some signs of toy agression, so it's recommended that adults throw the ball or frisbee for him. Buck is a smart boy and knows sit and down. But, he could use work on his leash skills. In the photo with 2 dogs, Buck is on the right, Rue on the left. UPDATE FROM BUCK'S FOSTER: Buck has been a gem of a dog. The classic lab, calm and content and ready to fetch. He was out in the rain with us today as fetching indoors was a bit much! He had a good night and slept beside me. He does well with children most of the time, but can get a bit snippy sometimes with high energy kids. He knows many commands: ( His name ) sit, stay, wait, ok, come, fetch it up, release, drop, down He waits to eat, he waits at the door, and he will even wait until sent after the ball, WOW! When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.
