Searching for his forever home!!

Hi, my name is Gus!

We have a crazy story to tell you. Somehow, when we were really tiny, we ended up at a cemetary, with our 8 brothers and sisters and our dad! Our dad was doing his best to take care of us, but it was pretty hard for him since there were so many of us. Help finally arrived and took us to a shelter.

Once we got to the shelter, 7 of our brothers and sisters were taken by a rescue agency. Our dad, the two of us and one other pup were left at the shelter. We kept hearing that the "clock was ticking". We weren't sure what that meant, but it didn't sound good.

The nice people at MARS agreed to take us. But then, our other sibling developed Parvo two days before we were scheduled to leave! We all had to go in to quarantine and have a bunch of tests done. Fortunately both of us tested negative for Parvo. We had to get some other medication to help us get rid of parasites, but we're good to go now.

We arrived in Minneapolis on Sunday, August 10th. I am in a foster home now. Most of our pictures show me with my brother. You can tell us apart, because I have a brown spot right by my tail, and Bongo has a brown spot by his eye.

I hope to meet you soon!
Gus

UPDATE FROM GUS' FOSTER:
He is doing great. Potty training it going well, no official accidents, but one good catch! The cat and him are not quite friends yet, but Gus keeps trying. We have been doing some training with the common commands; sit, lay down, off, leave it, kennel up. Good start, he responds better to Dave then I. He has also been playing with
neighbor's dog (see attached pic) and he holds his own and loves to play.

He sleeps through the night, no problems with that at all. He likes his
crate, even just lays in it when I am getting ready.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
