Description:

Bugsy was adopted as a puppy and now being returned because his family has new job schedules and they would like someone to spend more time with Bugsy than they can with the life changes.

Bugsy is fine with cats and will try to play with them and harass them a bit, but then cuddles up next to them to nap. He can be choosy about canine companions. Bugsy is friendly with the other dog in his current home. Other dogs passing by may get a bark or a chase out of Bugsy, and he needs to be on a leash around strange dogs. He would do best as an only dog in the house.

Bugsy is housetrained and crate-trained. He is good about going into his kennel on command when his guardians say "Kennel!" and snap their fingers twice - even if he hears it from another room. He stays in his kennel when his family is at work.

He is great on a leash and heels perfectly. Bugsy knows commands like "sit and "lay down". He comes when called most of the time, but sometimes he acts a bit stubborn. He absolutely loves car rides - he can ride in a car for days on end, happy as can be. Bugsy barks when he wants to report something happening outside or a person at the door.

Bugsy practically does not shed and would be perfect for those picky about extra hair in their house. He has high energy that is good to burn off with exercise.

This little guy likes young kids. Bugsy is a great lap dog, great at keeping the floors clean from food! His favorite thing in the world is tug of war with a rope toy. He goes crazy for it and has this hilarious growl of enjoyment when he give him hell trying to get the rope from him.

Bugsy is cute and extremely loyal to his master but will ignore almost everyone else’s commands. A single person with time to hang out with him would be great. If it's an older person or couple, they'd appreciate knowing that someone's at the door - Bugsy is a great watch dog.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
