Description:
Meet Skippy!
Skippy is definitely a bundle of energy; however, not at all in an out of control way. He is a
super friendly
, extremely
playful
little boy who
loves people
. He can be a little apprehensive around the guys at first, but warms up quickly.
He recognizes his name and obeys basic commands: sit, down, come & roll-over ;) We are working on: wait/stay, drop-it & shake. Skippy is housebroken , does well in the car and is progressing nicely going for a walk. He gets along well with other dogs . He even likes my grumpy dog, who is getting better at tolerating Skippy's energy. Once Skippy has worn out the other dogs and people in the house, he plays alone; throwing and chasing the toys. He is not at all possessive of toys. He will nip at pant legs when he wants you to play with him. He can be mouthy, but is quickly distracted by the correction of giving him a toy. Skippy has never chewed anything that is not a dog toy. Occasionally, he will find a loose sock and throw it around, but does not chew. When I need him to relax, he will sit with me and chew a toy until he is tired and then curl up next to me and take a nap. Skippy does not like being crated and will bark & cry; however, he has never pottied in the crate. He has graduated to being left loose in the designated dog area of the house with three other Terriers while we are away. He sleeps on a bed at night as
he loves, loves, loves to cuddle.
Skippy would do best in a home with activity
. People gone for only short periods of time and/or a calm patient dog companion.
Likewise, Skippy needs people who will understand his energy and are willing to help him expend it.
*A calm, non-reactive dog play with and to help him know playtime is over would be helpful.
*A fenced in backyard would be great for him to run off some steam.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
