Description:
Buttons is currently waiting for her new home with a couple humans, a couple big dogs, a couple of cats, and a couple part time little kids (3 mos and 3 years). While still a little shy with strangers, she warms up quickly and loves everyone! She will bark when people come to the door but she corrects and quiets quickly. She hasn't shown herself to be a "yapper" and doesn't do much barking otherwise.
She does engage in some play with the resident dogs, but they are rather large and a little intimidating - she loves to play with them but isn't so sure how to respond when they play back. Now the cats, that's a different game! Buttons would do good in a home with dog-savvy cats. She is very interested in them, likes to chase them but then will crawl up when play is over and nap with them. She actually wrestles and plays with one of the cats (I'd say the cat usually wins!).
We are working on house-training - she hasn't quite figured out how to signal yet but if taken out regularly, there are no indoor accidents. She has not spent much time here in a crate. She always travels in her crate and never makes a peep - however she does not look forward to going into it. We'll work on this but so far she has been great left out. She sleeps through the night and is beyond that "wonderful" chewing stage!
She loves to play with toys and can amuse herself with them taking them one by one from the toy box to her dog bed, she loves fetch and she loves to race around the yard like a crazy girl! As she is still nervous, I would always supervise her with young children as their quick movements and loud noises startle her a bit.
This girl really is cute as a button - she wants so much to please, to trust and to be part of a pack. She will make a wonderful life-companion and I invite you to meet her!
When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
