Description:
Meet Sky! Sky is a beautiful, young malamute that is looking for a forever home. Her little ears appear to have been cut or damaged in some way, but it doesn't bother her in the least.
Sky is housebroken and does great with most dogs. Small dogs bring out her prey instinct, so best in a home with medium or large dogs. A recent trip to the dog park showed how social she is. She loves to play! Cats are questionable. Her first foster home, before she came to Minnesota had cats and she did fine with them, but she does give chase to the current foster's cat (but cannot catch her...clever cat).
She is a LOVE BUG! And loves the children in her foster home. Here is a note from her foster:
So we got Sky to the dog park today and it went great! She got to play with about 15 different dogs of all kinds. She definitely preferred the more submissive ones and steered clear of the 120 pound male malamute, but she was very social and appropriate. What else was nice was that before all the dogs came she followed us through the trails and ventured away only briefly. She came back nicely. She does not walk well on a leash yet but I think will learn quickly. She has good manners- only jumps on you when playing, knows to sit, takes food gently and listens to "no". Not a barker. She hasn't jumped up on the furniture. She does startle easily which makes us kind of laugh- birds, logs, a parked car. She likes ball play- mostly fetch with herself. She loves playing with my 10 year old. They chase and wrestle a bit. Likes stuffed toys and rope toys. She did start to chew on shoe but listened when told no. She's sweet and good natured. Kennels well day or night- no crying.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
