Description:
Star knows "sit", "lay down" and "go potty" (and of course, no and uh-uh) She's a master at the scooting-sit and can follow me around a room, while sitting, if she thinks there is a treat in my hand :) ["Stay" is not working at all yet] She can jump over a standard baby gate in the blink of an eye if you are getting food on the other side of said gate. Otherwise, she's been good about respecting the gates in my house.
She comes from the fenced yard when called (even if it's not her name that is called!). She also rides well in the car. She prefers to curl into a ball on the front seat over riding in the back seat. Star loves to race the resident dog to wherever she thinks he is going - and she always wins.
She will play with another playful dog but otherwise seems respectful of other dogs and doesn't pester them to play with her. She seems to prefer to chase them but only after watching for awhile. She was very good at the dog park on her first visit today. (Although she did jump up on a strange woman twice and me a lot of times).
Inside the house, Star is mostly calm and will lay on one of the dog beds while I do my thing. (She curls up into the cutest little ball). She LOVES attention and the slightest movement from me might as well be a signal for her to get up and come to me.
She is easily called away from doing something (like joining my dog when he barks at the window), but she will go right back to it if not engaged in something else.
She hasn't chased a ball thrown for her and the only toys she's played with here were a food-filled Kong and a Nylabone. She might need to be taught what toys are.
She is learning that it is not appropriate to jump on people. For the first night and morning I had her, I could not even sit down without her jumping up on me. She is getting better but will need work in that area. She is especially jumpy (and nippy) when she gets excited, like when the leash comes out and when she first comes out of the kennel.
