Description:
Bruno is a 2 1/2 year old purebred red doberman pinscher with a docked tail and natural ears. He weighs 65 lbs. Bruno came into rescue from a high kill shelter. He was very scared in the shelter and he needs time to come out of his shell. When they would get him out of his kennel at the shelter he would just crouch on the ground. We knew he wouldn't get adopted at the shelter with how shy he was so we wanted to give him a chance in rescue. Bruno is very sweet and gets along well with other dogs. Large, bossy dogs do make him nervous but he's very playful and friendly with large mellow dogs or any smaller dogs. It is unknown how he would do with cats. He is completely crate trained and has not had any accidents in his foster home other than the very first day. This may be the first time he's ever lived indoors. Doorways and stairs were pretty scary at first but he's been making huge progress. Bruno takes treats very gently and he rides extremely well in the car, even for long (1.5 hour) car rides. He hops right up in my SUV and lays quietly in the back seat for the whole trip. Bruno walks very well on a leash. He doesn't pull, he just likes to see and smell everything. I'm sure his walks are the highlight of his day. He has no storm or separation anxiety at all. He startles with loud or unfamiliar noises but he's been doing great. The reward of exploring the neighborhood far outweighs any lingering fear. Bruno is very quiet and he rarely barks. This may be due to the fact that he just isn't feeling well lately. Bruno is heartworm positive and has already started treatment for this. We expect him to make a full recovery. If you can help Bruno please fill out an application. I have to say Bruno is one of the easiest foster dogs. He loves to be outside and can be trusted outdoors in our fenced yard. He doesn't bark or dig or get into any mischeif. He listens well and he's so eager to please. He loves toys and gets very playful. He also settles down nicely and is content spending time quietly in his crate. We can't say enough good things about the handsome Mr. Bruno! When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
