Description:
Meet our sweet little Brook! Brook was sitting in a cold cell at the pound just wanting a warm loving place to lay her head. The pound was scary to her and she really needed to get out of there. She is now safe and warm in a foster home. Brooke is the tiniest Min Pin we have ever seen—about half the size of others. The vets think she is 2 or 3 years old, but she weighs only 4 pounds. She was found outside as a stray on a cold winter day, underweight, missing hair, generally in poor condition. She may have been used as a breeding dog even though she clearly was not well enough for such a use, and of course when she is well she will be spayed. Even when she fills out, she will probably weigh only 5 pounds. In spite of a rough start in life, she is sweet and loves people—her favorite pastime is to cuddle on the lap or in the arms of a human who is wearing flannel, a sweater, or a soft sweatshirt. She just loves attention and kisses, and really loves it when people hold her and talk to her in a kind voice, and then gives tiny min pin kisses to show her love and gratitude. Brooke needs to wear soft sweaters or jackets at all times in cool weather, and her new home should plan on this practice, because even when she recovers from her hunger, she will never have much body mass or fur to keep her warm. Luckily she has learned to love these warm accessories, and looks extremely cute in them, too. She is respectful of the cats in her foster home, and does well with the other foster dog, who weighs about 18 pounds, except that she likes to take the rawhides and biscuits from the other dog, so she would do well with other animals to be her buddies, as long as they would tolerate that behavior. Brooke has a good appetite and is currently eating puppy variety dry and canned foods to put on that much-needed weight. She is not housebroken yet, and is too frail to start learning outside pottying in the winter, so her foster mom is working with her on litterbox training, and she is doing well so far. Her new home must plan on using only positive encouragement for this and having a safe warm room she can stay in while they are away to help reinforce her training. Her foster mom did not want to crate her because she dislikes it so, so has her in a bright warm bathroom with beds balnkets, treats, and litter box while she is at work. She could and probably should be a litter box dog because of our cold winters and her small dog bladder size. Brooke loves rawhides and one of her favorites is one that is really much too big for her, but she loves to carry it around and nibble on the edges with serious intent. She rides well in the car in the safety of a small carrier padded with a nice oval pet bed to keep her from sliding around. Typical of her breed, she sounds a very exuberant alarm or announcement when she sees or hears things outside that need attention, but otherwise she is not barky. She loves trotting around the house and yard, very busy checking things out, and then curling into a wool blanket or a soft padded oval bed for those all-important naps. Min Pins are dogs that love to burrow under covers. The right home for this little Minnie Mouse girl will be patient and loving, have no small children that might accidentally hurt her, will be committed to providing her with only the best quality food to help build and maintain her health, and include her in as many of their life activties as possible. This tiny girl has a big heart, and everyone who meets her soon falls in love. She needs a very special home to help her live the good life she has missed out on until now! Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
