Description:
MEET DYLAN!

Dylan is the sweetest quietest little lover-dog. All he wants to do is
snuggle and sleep-- and get a few scratches and pets whenever you get a
chance. He'll let you know he's ready for love by nudging into you to get
the petting started! This little sweetheart is just a smidge over 10 pounds and about 10 inches tall at the shoulder. He's living with another small
dog in his foster home, in addition to two very active grade/middle-schoolers, and they get along famously.

Dylan has gone to kids' football games and received a ton of attention from
many children there. A gaggle of kids take turns walking him on the leash
and snuggling-- it makes for a busy day, but he's a good sport and always feels satisfied later.

At home, other dogs in the neighborhood may bark, but not Dylan. Even when
those other dogs get really get excited, Dylan is just not interested. The
foster family has heard him bark a few times-- but not much and not loudly.
When he wants something, he will just sit and look at you, and if that doesn't work, eventually he will produce a breathy barely-there whine-- it
isn't a whine at all really, it's more like a whisper with an occasional faint squeak.

Dylan would LOVE to have a human friend who likes to keep him close. Maybe someone who has retired or works from home so he doesn't have to spend long stretches in the kennel (which sadly is not a calming place for him-- he'd much rather be curled up on the couch or under the covers of your bed). Dylan does not like being left alone- especially in his kennel. We think he was left in his previous kennel for far too long at a stretch. He won't fight it-- he'll go right into the kennel and stay there-- but he doesn't like it, even with a companion dog: he gets nervous and shakes. No one has seen Dylan go crazy in his kennel, but the foster eamily has come home to chewed up bits of plastic kennel-liner and shredded nylon shoulder-bag straps. It could have easily been the other dog, too, only he didn't do it before Dylan, so we think it's just the really uncharacteristic behavior of a little guy who doesn't like being left alone. He *really* loves you when you let him out!

Dylan loves to cuddle at bedtime and is a great sleeper. He likes to crawl
under the covers and sleep near you-- or he will stay at your feet not touching you if you prefer-- you just let him know if you're in the mood for a hot-pad/hot-dog or if you'd rather have a little space. :)

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
