Description:
FOSTER HOME NEEDED!

Bruce was brought into rescue and had been in a foster home for over a month, he was then adopted out and is now being returned due to not getting along with the resident dog.  His family is very sad about this, but they want what is best for Bruce.  So he needs a foster home once again.  He is a big boy who if you let him will be the boss of the home.

In his former foster home he lived with another dog without incident.  We are looking for a strong pack leader for him, who won't allow him to take over the house.  He is a lot of dog to be in charge.

Below is what we learned from the kennel where he was picked up at:

This big guy was picked up as a stray, and never claimed by owners.  Bruce is estimated to be about 3 years old, and weighs 115 pounds.  When he arrived in impound, he was dirty and matted, and had a severe ear infection.  His ear has been treated, and he has been cleaned up.

Bruce is a playful and exuberant boy.  He is affectionate with the kennel staff and loves attention.  He greets new people in a friendly manner with the occasional sloppy kiss.  He loves having his rump scratched and will position himself against you at the perfect angle for you to do so.  He's a ladies man and is also very fond of the male kennel staff.  He will actually try and sit in your lap if you're down on the floor giving him attention.  He's sometimes unaware of his size and can be a handful for a smaller person or someone without large breed experience.

He doesn't appear to have had much training although he will sit nicely for treats.  His leash manners are poor at best and he would benefit greatly from obedience training.  He is sometimes stubborn and would do well with a consistent handler.  He does not get upset when other dogs approach his kennel and approaches other dogs on leash in a friendly/playful manner.   He is not food or toy aggressive.

Can anyone help this BIG furry bundle of love?

URGENT: Bruce needs a temporary foster home, while we work to find a forever home.  We provide the food and cover all authorized medical expenses.

You simply provide a safe, loving home!

Why not take this opportunity to make a huge difference in the life of a sweet boy who needs some help?

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
