Description:
I'm Tulip!
I have been in Minnesota for a couple months now and love it here so much better than the puppy mill down South! That's right- I was one of the many dogs who was used by evil humans for the purpose of breeding for profit, and as a result I got no socialization with humans up until now. You may be wondering what that does for a dog. Well, it means I am very shy around new people, and I take a while to warm up. It also means I am afraid of normal things...because for me they are NOT normal! Stairs, grass, car rides, and all that fun stuff most dogs get to do is new for me. But, I have made a lot of progress so far, and with a loving and patient home I will continue to improve!! My current foster parents say if there is one word to describe me it is "sweet"! I am never aggressive- even when afraid- and I am very friendly once I get a chance to warm up. I always want to be with people, but for now I just keep my distance. For example, if you change rooms, I am going to follow you...I but I'm not going to be right under your feet or trying to jump on your lap. At least you won't have to worry about tripping over my tiny body!! I have the most energy during the middle of the day, so my foster mom tries to come home from work for lunch to let me out, however if you work a 9-5 to pay the bills I do just fine. I am a bit of a "special needs" dog in that I am blind in one eye, due to the lack of physical care I received when I was younger. However, to make up for it, I LOVE sounds! if you whistle I perk right up! I also love squeeky toys! For the most part, my fosters say I am a very laid back girl who loves the outdoors. When I am afraid I do tend to bolt, so I would really prefer a fenced yard so I can get some fresh air without worry that I'll disappear! It only took me one week to get housebroken, so my foster parents are convinced that once I come out of my shell more, I would be capable of learning some basic commands to complete the "perfect dog" package (I've already got the looks)! Right now I am confined to the kitchen with my foster sister and brothers, and I do not make any messes. In terms of my "ideal home" in the future, I would fit into many different family dynamics well. Preferably my future family will not have super young children, only because I get startled with sudden movements, which they tend to make moe often. I really like people with soft, quiet, calm personalities. Most of all, I NEED someone who has patience, as I will get better with time, but time it will take. I am such a CUTE little girl and I just know I will enhance your life! If you think you could enhance mine too, please fill out an adoption application so you and I can meet! Thanks so much for checking me out! Miss Tulip Please feel free to fill out an ADOPTION on our main website, www.midwestanimalrescue.org, by clicking on the Form/Applications link under Website Features. Thank You! Thank You! When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
