Description:

Meet Buster!

Buster arrived in rescue at 5 weeks of age and it took no time at all for him to win the heart of his foster mom who adopted him soon after.

He has been very loved and well taken care of in the last 10 years.  Unfortunately, dynamics in his home have changed and he is not adjusting well.  His mom has made the difficult decision to rehome him as she wants what is best for him.

Buster would do best in a home with another balanced dog.  He does great with other dogs and his favorite thing to do is race and chase around the yard.  He does not care for young dogs that will be in his face, but is great with dogs of all sizes that are respectful.

Buster is housetrained and has lived with cats, dogs...and even rabbits!  He may be 10 years old, but you would never know it.  Buster is still very active and loves walks.   He loves chewing on antlers and playing with toys.... although squeakers do not last very long!

Buster would do best in a home with older kids -young ones make him a bit nervous.  He will be a great addition for a home that wants a walking buddy as well as a cuddle bug as Buster is very affectionate.

Update from foster home:
Buster is such a sweet well behaved little boy.  He is completely house trained and doesn't need to be crated in the house, unless you want him to be.  He loves to chew on bones and bring it to you as a gift when you come home.  He enjoys sleeping with me in the bed, and sometimes even under the covers.

Buster is totally devoted to his human, and bonds quickly.  He loves to give kisses.  He is a mellow boy and gets along well with other dogs.  He walks well on a leash and doesn't pull. He is not a normally a barker, but it is so cute when you come home from being gone, he greets you with excitement and "woo woo woo" barks to announce his excitement for you being back.  He also travels well in the car, and takes treats from the barista's at the local coffee shops.   He does well with strangers and enjoys meeting all the new people at our office.

Buster would do really well with a single person or a couple without kids, or as an elderly companion.  He would also do very well in an apartment setting.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
