Meet Boots! Do you want a dog who will make you the center of his world? Boots is happy, curious, and loves every person he meets. He's very affectionate, housebroken, and understands the difference between dog toys and people belongings. He has never had an accident in my house, or chewed on anything he shouldn't. He also knows how to sit for treats, and is very handsome while doing it. He doesn't mind a kennel, but likely doesn't need one.
This little guy will be happy to curl up with you to watch a movie, play, or just hang out. He seems to understand that preparing a mail takes a lot of movement, and he'll wait in the next room and watch while you handle preparations. He does not beg while you eat, but watches from a distance. Then he'll be ready to interact again.
He's learning to walk on a lead, and does pretty well with a gentle leader. He loves walks but will pull, especially if he sees a small animal or another dog.
He is more of a "people" dog than a "dog buddy" dog. He gets along with my resident female, though they don't play much together. He also does not seem to like some male dogs. It would be a good idea to have Boots meet any resident dogs before bringing him into the house. He would be perfectly happy being an only dog.
He will bark at people and dogs going by, and will make sure no pesky squirrels are around. If it is warm and sunny, he is happy to wander the yard or sit in the sun and watch the world go by. In colder weather he'll go outside to do his business and is ready to come back in (unless you're outside).
When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.
