Meet Spike!

Spike is a wonderful beagle boy! He was found as a stray and left unclaimed at a high kill shelter. He just wants a family to love!

Spike is good with other dogs and people of all ages. In particular, he LOVES kids! At our adoption events, he always gravitates toward the children and he just wants to play and snuggle :) He has not been around cats.

Currently, Spike has free run of the house with the other dogs during the day when his foster parents are at work. He does great, and we are pretty sure he spends most of his time sleeping on the couch with his two foster dog siblings. Spike does not enjoy his crate, but with a bit of training he could easily be convinced to settle down and hang out in there.

Though Spike is in his ‘middle age’ years, he still has a lot of youth in him! He likes to keep ‘busy’, exploring all of the rooms in the house to see if he can find any new toys to play with. He enjoys his walks and exercise, and also enjoys playing with his human friends. He would also love to be able to play with dog siblings (currently his foster dog siblings are much older and not interested in play).

Unlike many beagles, Spike generally doesn’t make much noise (other than when he sniffs something REALLY good in the yard – he’s a beagle and his nose rules his life!). This might make him a candidate for shared walls, especially if there is another dog in the home that he can hang out and be comfortable with when the humans leave.

Spike has spent a lot of time at our vet office and is the model patient. Loves everyone there and has been great for everything he has had done.

Watching Spike scampering and hopping around in the yard makes you smile! He is super sweet and will make some lucky family a perfect pet!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
