Meet Sven!

* Needs another confident dog in the house
* Energetic, may be too rumbunctious for small kids

* Housetrained
* Needs a physically fenced in yard

Sven is a very playful little guy that came from a hoarding situation. He and his litter mates landed in a local shelter and were not doing well in that environment. So, MARS grabbed these babies and placed them in home environments! They are now doing quiet well!  These little ones will do great in a home with a lot of love, patience, fenced in yard and a doggie playmate to help teach him the ropes!

Sven is a energetic little fellow.   He likes to play with toys, other dogs and loves to run out in the fenced yard to burn off some energy.  He is still in the puppy stage and likes to chew so we are teaching him not to chew unauthorized items by telling him no and giving him a rawhide or chew toy.   Coming from a hoarder situation, he has some things to learn about what is okay and what is not, but he is a quick learner.  It will be best to keep him close to you until he understands what is proper behavior.  We are working on leash walking after just a couple of walks he has really shown us how fast he learns.  He did not know how to go down the stairs but after showing him just two times he can go up and down just fine.  Because he is a flight risk, we recommend walking him with a collar and harness and two leashes and will need a fenced yard.  He is crated in a wire type crate when we are not home.

Sven will take a little work, patience and watching and teaching at first, but he is a very sweet guy and will reward you with that look of love and a warn cuddle when you are reading or watching TV.  He has such a unique pretty coat color, his photos do not do him justice.

UPDATE:

Sven is such a smart boy, he has mastered walking so nice without pulling on the leash and he loves his daily walk.  He has made a lot of improvement in understanding what is okay to play with or chew on and what is not. He is responding to the wait and look before he eats and will sit before his dish near the other dogs in his foster home. Sven is working on a release to start eating.

Sven has a free reign of the house when the foster is gone and does not need to be kept in sight all the time, he is becoming more and more a sweet lovable dog as each day goes by.  Sven has come so far in  just a few weeks he will make someone a wonderful companion.  Sven recently even drove a boat - check out his new photos!

Sven shows good manners when meeting people and dogs. He has been attending training classes and the trainer says he will be a loyal companion. Everyonewho meets him, falls for Sven. He is adorable, super soft, likes to be around his people and is a great gardening buddy. Sven is up for new adventures, like being on a pontoon boat, hanging out on a dock, is very quiet and relaxed in the car and soon will be visiting local patios and brew pubs to show off his handsome social self.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
